Some of the original gates and panels survived being taken away during the last world war because they were required to be retained for safety reasons e.g. to basement areas. In 1986 the council commissioned the manufacture of these castings and to make up patterns for the cast iron components found on the estate. These are now there for available to make up the different types of gates, panels and railings found in the conservation area many of which have now been re instated some with grant assistance from the council. Leighton Ironcraft now has all the castings needed to re instate full heaver railings in the conservation area. Including the re constituted sand stone champford plinths.
